Another day and a few less dollars

It’s 9:47 am here in newbern VA on the 4th of July. Still pretty cool outside but the forecast promises another scorcher. Everything is packed, my teeth are brushed, my bottom is greased (yes really) and I’m ready to roll. I’m really itching to get out of this place now. It’s been great to take a day off but my legs feel ready to take me further west now. Hope my knees are up to the job. I’ve been on a strict diet of Advil and Taco Bell since I got to the campground so I should be good.

While the other campers set up their extravagant bbqs and kitchens I simply roll up the two miles to the nearest town and eat when I get hungry. They may be getting a more authentic camping experience, but I feel I’m getting a decidedly more true american experience. Plus I’m really getting a great chance here to get to know my way around the taco bell menu. Plus I’m stimulating the economy more than the other campers are.

Ok I better get rolling here before it gets too hot. I’ll check in with you later. Happy 4th!! (yeees I’m going to be easy on my knees today, don’t worry)

  1. O voyagers, O seamen,
You who came to port, and you whose bodies
Will suffer the trial and judgement of the sea,
Or whatever event, this is your real destination.”
So Krishna, as when he admonished Arjuna
    On the field of battle.
    Not fare well,
    But fare forward, voyagers.
