Mountains and spam

Twin Lakes, CO. 1:15pm.

We just did the first mile of 19 on the Independence Pass. This will be the longest climb of my 4000 mile journey – and it has started surprisingly easy. I’m sure it’ll pick up towards the top. Locals laugh at us – as they do – when we tell them what we’re about to do. I have a very strong feeling this is going to be easier than the substantially shorter ascents on the eas coast, but we’ll see. I’ll give you a full report when I’m at 12095 feet. Oh, and it’s still mind bogglingly beautiful, of course.

To keep things interesting I’ll give you a picture not of tye mountains – you’ll get those later – but of the nutritious content of a packet of spam. Daniel eats it straight out of the aluminum packet and it smells like dog food. Look at the sodium!!!
