It’s all in the socks

Out here on the road, you start to appreciate the smallest improvements in your gear. Two new pairs of non-cotton socks and two insulated water bottles and I feel like a little kid in a candy shop.

A few miles down the road. Hills are tough but I feel ok. So far. It’s a very strange feeling jumping on a bike in one place and knowing that you ain’t comin back.

Today’s itinerary

This is the itinerary and written map of today’s ride around the foothills of the appalachians. We’ve got a bright sunny day here and I’m fueled up on high octane oatmeal. I’m stopping by my dad’s brilliant Volvo mechanic Tommy to give him a sweaty hug.
